Hello, Vassar.
In my education systems research, I saw how poorly designed technologies ignite fear –
And how limited digital literacy quietly sorts people into a modern caste system,
Where greater technological access functions like a higher caste,
And exclusion from digital systems determines who holds power, opportunity, and voice.
Learning online and building Pyari games taught me that systems change only when users –
Their cultures, gendered access, and lived constraints – are centered first.
Working at Pyari games with Miriam Barker, a current Vassar junior majoring in STS,
I was drawn to STS for its refusal to separate innovation from people.
Being one of the first, Vassar’s STS program has asked these same questions for fifty years,
Treating technology as a social force shaped by power, gender, labor, and access.
That history is why STS at Vassar feels aligned with my work toward inclusion beyond rhetoric.
Outside the classroom, I look forward to learning through conversation and community,
Carrying these questions into campus life, shared spaces, and everyday exchanges.
Thank you for this additional read. ED2 reflects my hope to grow understanding at Vassar.
